Mero Sea Bass and Wild Boar Chops – Specials April 22 & 23
We added a few items to the menu this week as we have begun to change over to our spring-summer menu. We added the mussels in Musacdet with red chiles, and we changed the pork steak to a homemade Andouille sausage.
And the specials this weekend feature some of my favorite ultra-fresh fish, as well as some delicious wild boar.
If you haven’t had Mero Sea Bass before, it is simply an incredible fish! Mero is a sustainably fished, wild-caught off the Hawaiian Islands, and a member of the Grouper family. What makes is so special is that is lives in ultra-pure waters and eats a diet of almost entirely shellfish such as crab and shrimp. This diet is so rich that the fish takes on those flavors, and it tastes of rich king crab with the texture of Chilean sea bass! This stuff is amazing and rarely found outside of Hawaii. You do not want to miss this one!
We are also excited about offering an oyster that we have not had before: Gartley Beach. These oysters are from the northern end of Vancouver Island, and this is just about as cold as you can get for oysters. The result is a crisp, ultra-clean tasting oyster that is simply delicious! Special – Ultra-fresh, Hawaiian Mero Sea Bass pan-seared with an almond crust finished with lemongrass beurre blanc and kiwi coulis, served on a bed of red curry-spied mashed sweet potatoes and grilled succhini.

Amuse – Spanish Gazpacho
Starter – Fresh Gartley Bay Oysters on the half shell with house-made raspberry vinegar mignonette and spicy cocktail sauce

Dessert – Blueberry Cobbler – fresh blueberries baked into a sweet cobbler served with homemade buttermilk ice cream.
