Hawiian Ono and Painted Hills KC Strip – Specials Oct 29 – 30
How good is Ono? Well, when the name of this rich, buttery, snow-white, silky-smooth textured, ultra-fresh fish literally translates from the Hawaiian language as “good to eat” it can’t be too bad! Ono is a long-bodied deep, cool water fish that is only found in the Hawaiian Islands. Normally, you won’t see it too often outside of the Islands, but since we pride ourselves in bringing in the cool stuff, you will be able to enjoy this day boat landed fish in Manhattan. This is so fresh that I can tell you the name of the boat that caught this fish yesterday!
Or perhaps you would prefer a thick, juicy, dry-aged, naturally-raised, bone-in KC Strip steak from Painted Hills Oregon. I have found their beef to be some of my favorite, with a nice balanced between the sweet, soft-textured corn-fed beef and the heartier grass-fed beef. Throw a great steak on a bed of truffled potatoes, and your close to perfection.
Even the special appetizer (which can be ordered separately from the prix fixe menu) is so good that it alone is worth coming out for. A Tarte Flambee is basically a small pizza from Alsace that has onions and fresh and aged cheeses. I made this for the Marcel Deiss wine dinner and I was so pleased with it that I knew I had to offer it as a special.
